Multiple Country phpBay Plugin for WordPress
Welcome all phpBayers
This is where you can download my WordPress plugin to add multiple country support to Wade’s great phpBay eBay script.
Why do you need this ?
Well … the greatest feature about this plugin is that it instantly opens up a whole host of additional markets for each of your existing stores. A visitor to your site can now select from the various eBay host countries (that you are affiliated with, and have configured in the widget). A visitor from the UK, for example, may not like the eBay auctions you have listed on your US defaulted site, and now with a single click on a displayed flag your site will change to UK eBay “mode” and offer him a range of auctions from eBay UK (or any of the 14 eBay countries you specify).

About the script
At the moment this script supports the 14 eBay countries provided for in phpBay 2.5 … and I will be releasing a new version to fully support the new version 3 of phpBay.
I have tested this plugin on WordPress versions 2.3.3 and upwards … and, there is no reason why it should not work on earlier versions.
It has also been tested on a number of widget ready WordPress themes, and works great. It’s designed to generically fit in with the style of most themes without needing to edit any of the code at all.
What do you need to run it
Before downloading this plugin please make sure that you meet the following minimum specifications -
- You must be running a version 2.5x of phpBay. It will probably work just fine in the new phpBay 3 … I just haven’t tested it on there yet.
- Your WordPress theme has to be widget capable, as this plugin adds a new widget into the widget set.
NOTE : This is a WordPress plugin and will not work on sites that have not been built using WordPress.
If you are familiar with installing WordPress plugins then you should have this running in just a few minutes.
What does it cost ?
I am releasing this plugin to the phpBay community as “donation-ware“.

24 May 2008 : The new version of my multi-country plugin for phpBay Pro is also now available. It now supports 17 countries, and has FREE geo-targeting (using free Maxmind) automatically incorporated. Requires a minimum of version 3 of phpBay Pro (will not work on phpBay Pro version 2.5.x).
5 June 2008 : Fixed a problem that stopped this plugin from displaying properly after phpBay V3 RC1 build 8.
10 July 2008 : When a visitor to your site was geo-located from a country that is not in your list of eBay countries, then the pagination function in phpBay would return no auction items if they clicked through to higher page numbers. This has now been fixed.
